Generation Kill is a 2008 HBO television miniseries based on the book of the same name by Evan Wright about his experience as an embedded reporter with the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion of the United States Marine Corps during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. It was adapted for television by David Simon, Ed Burns and Wright. The series premiered on July 13, 2008 and spanned seven episodes. It is produced by Simon, Burns, Nina K. Noble, Andrea Calderwood, George Faber and Charles Pattinson. The series had its satellite premiere on the FX channel in the UK on Sunday January 25, 2009. Generation Kill was broadcast terrestrially in the UK on Channel 4 in 2009, beginning on Wednesday 7th October. The show had its satellite premiere on Steel in Italy on Sunday June 14, 2009. In Australia, the show had its premiere on the showcase channel (part of the Showtime Australia group of channels) on Tuesday 28 July, 2009.
